Frequently asked questions
What is HomieNow?
You live like a local: you share a home with a verified local family. We hand-pick the one that fits you and stay by your side during the stay.
How much does it cost?
There are three packages: Spark (€49), Match (€499) and Bond (€999). The stay is paid separately, directly to the family. On the free 15-min call we guide you to the right one.
How long can I stay?
As long as you need: duration is flexible, from short stays to long seasons. We talk it through on the call.
Which cities are you in?
Wherever you want to live. We have families published in several cities and we work on demand: if you want another city, village or island, we recruit a family there.
What if the family is not a fit?
Write to us and we help: Match includes 1 free family change and Bond includes changes throughout the stay. And if we never deliver the promised families, you get 100% back.
Do I need to speak Spanish?
It is not required. Each family lists the languages they speak on their profile, and many speak English or other languages.
Is HomieNow only for students?
No. Most of our guests are adults: people on a sabbatical, remote workers, people relocating to Spain, or anyone who wants to learn the language by living with a local family. There is no age limit or label; we look for people who genuinely want to share a home.
Is it strange to live with a family as an adult?
Not at all. You have your own room and your own space, and you share as much as you want (a meal, a conversation, the city from the inside). Many adults choose it for exactly that: arriving to a home instead of an empty flat.
How do you verify families, and is it safe?
We verify every family one by one: a personal interview, an identity check and a complete profile before they go live. Before you decide anything you speak with the family and with us on a free call, and during your stay a real person on our team is available if something does not feel right.
What does a typical day with a host family look like?
Every home is different, but the idea is simple: you live your life (work, classes, plans) and share what comes up with the family, especially around the table. You have your own room for privacy and a home where people talk, cook and live real Spanish every day.
Is this a good alternative to Airbnb for a few months?
Yes. The difference: instead of an empty flat, you arrive to a home with local people who help you settle in, with a stable monthly price and no surprises. You gain company, language and a city lived from the inside, like a local.
Which city should I start in?
Wherever you want to live. We have families in cities like Valencia, Seville, Madrid and Barcelona, and because we work on demand, if you want another city, a town or an island, we find a family there. On the free call we tell you what is available for your destination and dates.
Will I really learn Spanish living with a family?
Yes, it is one of the fastest ways: you practise every day in real situations (meals, plans, TV) instead of only in class. You do not need a prior level; many families also speak English or other languages to help you at the start.
What if you cannot find a family for me?
If we do not introduce the families your package promises, you get 100% of the amount back. No time limit, no small print.
Does the package price include the stay?
No. The package covers the personalised search, verification and support. The stay is paid directly to the family, usually month by month.
What is added to the price of the stay?
A service fee depending on your package: Spark +19%, Match +10% and Bond +5% on the monthly price the family sets.
What if I start with Spark and then want Match?
The €49 from Spark is fully deducted from the price of Match or Bond, with no deadline. You lose nothing by trying.
How does the process work?
1. You book your free 15-min call. 2. We choose the package together. 3. We hand-pick verified families that fit you. 4. You talk to them and confirm your stay.
Can you register me on the padrón?
Each family states whether they are willing to register you (empadronamiento, the town-hall registration). If you need it, we prioritise willing families; the paperwork itself is done by you with the family.
How long does the process take?
It depends on the city and your criteria. On the call we give you an honest estimate for your specific case.
